Moving to Northern Kentucky: The Relocation Guide
Northern Kentucky is the Kentucky side of the Cincinnati metro: river cities with skyline views, family suburbs growing by the season, and genuine countryside twenty minutes from both. It's one region with very different addresses, and picking the right one matters more than picking the right house.

The shape of the region
Three counties do most of the work. Boone County holds Florence's retail spine, Union's newer family neighborhoods, Burlington's small-town seat, and the airport. Kenton County runs from Covington's historic riverfront through Fort Mitchell's tree-lined classics down to Independence's newer subdivisions. Campbell County, along the Licking and Ohio rivers, brings Newport, Fort Thomas, and more river-town character.
Downtown Cincinnati sits directly across the bridges, which means big-city employment, dining, and sports without big-city addresses. CVG airport, on the Kentucky side, is one of the region's quiet superpowers: a real international airport most residents reach in fifteen minutes.

Picking your fit
- Want walkability, historic character, and a skyline? Start with Covington, and look at Newport and Bellevue while you're at it.
- Want newer construction and family-first neighborhoods? Union and Independence are where the region is growing.
- Want established, tree-lined, and close to everything? Fort Mitchell and its Dixie Highway neighbors.
- Want convenience above all? Florence and Erlanger put the region's errands, airport, and interstates at your door.
- Want land and quiet with a reasonable commute? Burlington and the rural west of Boone County.
Schools, taxes, and the practical questions
School options include well-regarded public districts and independents (families ask for Beechwood, Ryle-area, and Fort Thomas schools by name) plus a deep bench of parochial schools. The right fit depends on your kids and your address; we'll connect the two honestly.
On costs, Northern Kentucky's broad pattern is friendly: home prices and property taxes that compare well against many metros people relocate from. We'll pull the actual tax bill for any home you're serious about, because the right answer is the specific one.
A relocation game plan that works
From out of state, run it in two passes. First a scouting visit: two days, several cities, no showings, just neighborhoods at different hours and a shortlist at the end. Then a focused buying trip with pre-approval done and tours stacked efficiently; video walkthroughs from us fill the gaps between visits.
We handle relocations regularly and can run the whole rhythm remotely until you're ready to be here.
